The Town of Clarenville is located on the TransCanada Highway 190 km west of St. John's and 150 km East of Gander. Clarenville is a thriving community located on the East Coast of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is nestled in the beautiful Shoal Harbour River Valley, between rolling hills and an arm of the Atlantic Ocean, called Random Sound. Strategically located between rolling three major peninsulas- Burin, Avalon and Bonavista, Clarenville is within a two hour reach of 70% of the province's population.
Clarenville was selected for the origin point of the Transatlantic Cable which was laid in June of 1955. The cable spanned from the old booster station in Clarenville to Oban, Scotland. Clarenville is in close proximity to two full service international airports. To the west, Gander International Airport is 1.5 hours away. While to the East, St. John's International Airport is only a 2 hour drive from Clarenville
