Control Systems Engineers - Denver, CO
Our Denver office has an immediate need for Control and Automation Systems Engineers (Project Engineers) who are experienced in aspects of industrial control system design and implementation. This technical position requires current hands-on experience with a wide range of industrial control system solutions.
Rutter Hinz Inc. is a highly respected engineering firm leading the way in the management, design, programming, and commissioning of medium to large control system projects for major industrial clients. The Rutter Hinz Denver office has been servicing the Rocky Mountain Region for over 14 years and in industry since 1971. Our staff works with the latest technologies, applying innovative and creative thinking to provide solid engineering solutions to our clients. We continue to experience solid market growth, and are looking for personnel who are experienced in control/automation system, PLC, HMI, network, and communications design.
Our control and automation systems project work is for major industrial clients, encompassing the following process and technical aspects:
- Oil & Gas pipeline station control systems and motor/pump control
- Design of control systems for bulk material handling, manufacturing, and mining applications
- PLC architecture design and software programming
- HMI configuration tasks
- DCS hardware and software configuration tasks
- SCADA system programming and configuration
- Systems integration with such tools as Visual Basic or C+ software
- Electrical schematics, panel design, loop diagrams, wiring/connection diagrams, and generation of I/O lists
- Project commissioning, startup, and training
- Generation of project documentation
- Other aspects of electrical/controls projects as necessary
Successful candidates will be expected to handle a wide-range of project responsibilities, requiring the following technical skills and experience:
- Project scope definition and cost estimating for industrial clients
- Preparation of equipment specifications for PLC, HMI, OIT, and DCS system architecture and instruments
- General knowledge of control system design and interfacing to power system equipment, and motor controls/drives
- Field testing of control systems and project field commissioning, including formal and informal training on configuration, maintenance, and operations of automation systems
- Generation of associated project documentation
- Ability and willingness to execute projects according to a Rutter Hinz defined Project Execution Methodology
- Application of structured control system design approaches
- Structured software design and programming of PLC's, HMI's, RTU's, and other SCADA devices for a variety of systems
- HMI development experience in packages such as Wonderware, RSView, Citect, etc.
- Design of industrial communication networks such as Ethernet, ControlNet, etc.
- Organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in both written and oral communication, and the ability to work within a technical team environment
- Proficiency with a variety of Microsoft applications including Outlook, Excel, Access, Word, Visio, Projects, and PowerPoint
- Proficiency with computer operating systems, networks and electronic information handling
We are located in a new Rutter Hinz-owned building in Highlands Ranch (southwest corner of Denver), one of the fastest growing suburban areas of the US. The office is quickly accessible to major freeways and transportation arteries. Quality of life in Highlands Ranch is high, with an abundance of new housing, shopping, restaurants, entertainment, and a wide array of other services.
We prefer 5 or more years of technical experience, but will seriously consider all outstanding candidates. An engineering degree would be a benefit, but not a requirement. An organized approach to problem solving, an attention for detail, a healthy work ethic, and an aptitude for computer/software are all essential.
